I'm not sure if you mean all text messages (iPhone and Android users) or when it's just Android (the text comes up in a green bubble.

Check here: Go to Settings -> Messages

Make sure your "iMessage" is turned on

"Send as SMS" turned on

"MMS Messaging" turned on

There's also an option at the very bottom called "Low Quality Image Mode". I'd keep that off unless you have a limited data plan
