Network error when trying to add/fix our businesses

Hi I was hoping somebody could help as I am not really getting a solution with my communication with Apple.

My company manages around 40 locations in Australia and most are not on Apple Maps. The ones that are have completely incorrect information. Every time I try to 'add a place' it just clicks to a Network Error screen. We have tried multiple internet connections and multiple devices but we just continue to get the same message.

Does anybody have a fix for this, or know how I can 'easily' get Apple to add and fix our locations as it is a bit of a mess right now and our clients can't use Apple Maps to find out locations. I have also tried to go into Maps on my iPhone and 'Report a Problem' to add the missing locations and fix the incorrect locations, but months later they are still the same.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

UPDATE: when using Firefox (Mac, latest version), the network error did not occur and I could select from proposals and add a new place. Google Chrome and Safari do not work for me. So it's not an issue at Apple's end but I might never get to know what causes the problem with some browsers...

From completely different and unrelated networks, and from personal or unmanaged devices? If you’re trying different tests from the same network or the same pool of devices, you may well be encountering a common error or policy limit somewhere within or at the edge of your internal network, or a problem or policy limit with device management.

And our IT company has tried too.

Alas, that’s the IT version “it doesn’t work”.

Not anything we can build an answer on, past “contact Apple”.

It just keeps going to a screen with 'network error' as below. There is so much wrong data on there and missing places!

If this only reproduces on your network or on your specific devices, find somebody locally that can run a DNS traffic capture and a traceroute, among other tests. Or get Apple or (additional) outside help involved.

I can't understand how this problem has been reported over Google multiple times but there seems to be no fix.

I’m unable to find “all over” errors with Google, DDG, and Searx; two or three similar-looking reports across the whole of the ‘net, and very unclear as to the cause of those.

Escalate this to your own management—they’re the contact for any internal IT issues—and also contact Apple Support.

A screenshot that says "network error" is useless. When I try to Google for:

"An error occurred." "A network error has occurred, please try again later"

all I get is your screenshot and two similar ones. What is the actual error? If your IT company is unable to debug the problem beyond a screenshot, then I humbly suggest that you need to find a new IT company. That is basic, basic stuff.

There is so much wrong data on there and missing places! I can't understand how this problem has been reported over Google multiple times but there seems to be no fix.

What do you mean by "reported over Google"? Are you not talking about Apple Maps? What does Google have to do with it?

Are you talking about those other two reports that are available via a Google search? One was a post on Apple Support Communities like yours. The other is a tweet. Neither of those were actually reported to Apple. Did you try to contact Apple Support as suggested earlier in this thread? What was the result?

There is a bit "Help" button when you first login. Are you able to access that far? If not, you can this direct link:

https://register.apple.com/business/ui/contactus?userLang=en-CA&refUrl=placesonmaps%2F&appName=%2Fbusiness&businessName=&organizationName=null

That's what I get when I click the Help button. I'm already logged in, so it fills in my name and e-mail address.

But I'll tell you right now, Apple is going to have the same questions I do. A screenshot will be of no use. You are going to have to try in a desktop web browser in Developer mode and capture the actual error that is being generated.

It sounds like you already know about the official service to manage a business. Usually all we can do is give you a link to that. But since this service requires both a login and a business, we can't help with any specific error you are having.

Can you provide more information about this "network error"? A screenshot perhaps? Are you using Safari? Chrome might not work. And if you are using Safari, try Chrome. 😄

In Safari, you can also enable Developer mode and see more details about why the connection is failing. You can also use "curl" on the command line in Terminal to debug these issues. With 40 locations, you could be behind some corporate firewall that is doing crazy things. Maybe try a reputable VPN to get you past any local complications.

I have same issue since months. Have two places already that were set up long time ago but now I cannot add any new place cause I always get this network error as soon as I type in a first letter into the searchbox. Search starts immediately and results in that network error. Everybody can test this even without login here: https://register.apple.com/placesonmaps/ Simply type one single letter into the searchbox. You either get proposals or the network error. For me it's always the last. Tried different devices, browsers, locations...nothing helped. I'm almost sure this is a problem with Apple's database somehow...

This is exactly the issue.

We have tried multiple internet connections, multiple devices, multiple devices. It is just the same every time. Our IT company have tried too and they get the same issue. I completely understand where you're coming from with not wanting to use Apple Maps as it is so frustrating. Google Business makes it so simple to add places and I can't understand why it's so difficult with Apple Maps!

For example we have a location in Melbourne and it is giving the address of our location in Brisbane! And I've reported the problem several times but still it doesn't change months later! Every name of each location is incorrect, websites are incorrect, approximately 30 locations are missing - it is actually terrible and so bad for our clients who use Apple Maps.
