Loss of Photo Location,

Can anyone help? Photo location stopped being recorded on 5 Nov 2021. I have checked Settings/Privacy and Location Services are enabled. I tried turning it off for 10 seconds. This didn't help. Camera and Photos have location services enabled while the app is being used. I still can't get location info on new photos. Any suggestions?

Additionally I guess that location info for photos taken since 5 Nov 2021 are not recorded anywhere so can't be retrieved. Is that right? Fingers crossed for response!

Hello SpinkyDen,

Being able to view your photos by location is a great feature of Photos. It sounds as though you've verified Location Services is enabled. To confirm, did you scroll down the list of applications in Settings > Privacy > Locations Services, tap on Photos, and confirm "While Using the App" or "Ask Next Time Or When I Share" are selected? If not, make sure the desire option is selected for Photos. You'll also want to make sure the desired option is enabled for Camera as well in Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Camera.

When I go into Location Services, Photos is nowhere to be seen and I'm not sure how to add it in. Camera is visible and is set to 'While Using the App'. Also not sure where to find the 'desire option'.

Would I be right in thinking 'browsing photos by location' link would only work if a location was recorded? Certainly swiping up on a photo offers the option of adding a location.
