Thanks for the additional information, MSGRSA. It’s appreciated.

Use AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support -- However, no where in this article does it mention needing a Wi-Fi or cellular connection. We also tested this issue ourselves and the setting remained off even after connecting to the internet.

This is why we’ve asked you to contact Apple Support. This is unexpected behavior and they have the tools needed to address this. Here’s the link again, in case you need it: Get Support. If this link doesn’t work for you, you can also give Apple a call: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

All the best.

Hi MSGRSA,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! To clarify, AssistiveTouch is disabled in Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch as listed in the article below:

Use AssistiveTouch on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If so, we recommend that you reach out to Apple Support directly to take a further look. Please reach out here:

Hope this helps!

MSGRSA ~ 82% is close to Apple's suggested 80% at which to have the battery replaced. You didn't answer my first qstn regarding whether the battery is original, but assuming it is, it's probably on its last legs.

Also, the long process of applying an iOS update to an old iPhone with a weak battery can be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back."

This is so frustrating now it’s turning itself on immediately after I’ve restarted the phone.

Is this what happens to iPhone when they get a little older? I never experienced anything like this with other brands and Apple is so expensive compared to other brands. It’s very disappointing.
