Mail Error every afternoon

Every afternoon for the past week I am receiving a mail error “unable to connect to the server”. Very frustrating as by the following morning everything is fine again until around 1500hrs. Tried password change, shutting everything down to no avail.

Would appreciate any help.

Troubleshooting iPhone WiFi:

Seems to be an issue with the iPhone's WiFi connection? Try the following...

A few thoughts to try:

I. Start Here: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch won't Connect to a Wi-Fi Network - Apple Support

II. Clear the Temporary Internet Files:

III. Restart your Router:

  1. Power: off the router
  2. Wait: 30 seconds
  3. Power: It back on

IV. Reconnect to your Network:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Wi-Fi
  3. Disable: Wi-Fi
  4. Wait: 30 seconds
  5. Enable: Wi-Fi

V. Add Back the Network:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: Wi-Fi
  3. Remove: the network
  4. Wait: 30 seconds
  5. Add: the network back

VI. Reset All Network Settings to Default:

Example of items that will be reset: (Wi-Fi Passwords, VPN Connections, etc):

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Reset
  4. Tap: Reset Network Settings.
  5. Enter: [Your Passcode]

Troubleshooting iPad eMails:

A. Go here: If you can’t Send eMail on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

B. Add the eMail Account Back.

See if it all syncs when you add the eMail Account back. If it is on a Mail server the it should pop up. It may take some time, if you have thousands to download.

C. Use a New App Password:

Do you use an App Password? If so, try a new App Password. Sometimes, changes (i.e. updates) are made to the device, and then mail server syncing becomes an issue (which is what a new App Password it intended to fix). For example, you'd go here for gmailSign in with App Passwords - Google Account Help - Google

Many, many thanks to you for all your help and persistence with my problem TheLittles. What a great help this site is when people such as yourselves continue to try and help an old learner 😉.

Point V1did the trick. That has always been a “am I game to hit that button” but will not be an issue in the future.

This morning I couldn’t get emails and could not sign into mail or 🍎. Was going to reply here and then saw you had added further options and after reading them all decided to reset network settings and that worked on the iPad and iPhone, so again thank you very much for all your help. Hopefully it will stay solved.

There is Only So Much that Broadband can Handle:

If it is always at a certain time, then I would say it may have to do with bandwidth. Don't forget about what is going around (COVID), and what it has resulted in: Many working out of the house. There is only so much that broadband can handle. So, try using another password once more, but this time in the early morning. I remember when COVID came about, that my ISP send a hardcopy letter out to all those in the metropolitan area that they are doing their best to keep up with all of this. Fiber-optic cabling has been placed up by utility work over the last year to handle this.

Thanks for your input. Tried all of your suggestions and still didn’t fix it. One change of password worked the first and only time. .Just opened mail (iOS) and it is working again. Don’t have heaps of emails as it works off and on, usually when on charge overnight and modem is shutdown. I’m using a 5g WiFi Pro (Telstra) and signal strength varies between 1 & 2 bars, mainly 1.
