Hi….. brand new iPhone 13 pro and if there’s any type of major sun — the phone screen goes so dim it is not useable. Went to the apple Genius Bar and they told me it’s working fine and to stay out of the sun with it.
so, I guess I’m good as long as I only use it in the office lol. Anyone else have this issue?

When you are using the phone in direct sunlight the phone gets too hot from the radiant heat of the Sun, so it dims the screen to reduce the heat load of the phone (the screen is the one of the heaviest heat generators in an iPhone), so the phone doesn’t shut down due to overheating. The solution is shade the phone when outdoors in direct sunlight.

If you use your iPhone under direct sunlight, the screen may be very dim. With direct sunlight, I mean standing directly under the sun. There should be nothing wrong with your iPhone.

Your newest iPhone now has an active OLED screen; your older iPhones probably had back-lit LCD displays. All iPhones through the iPhone 8, and also all SE models and the XR had LCD screens. The X, XS, 11, 12 and 13 have OLED screens.
I’m confused however —I’ve had many iPhones and this is the first time I’m having this issue? I don’t think my usage has changed?
