How could I reset the timer for my iphone 8 considering I went passed 10 attempts?

Yes - I know how this sounds, but this is a genuine issue. I have no prior recollection of my previous apple id and password so I dont think I can connect it to my iTunes account. I had to make a new id and pass but I really would like to unlock my older iPhone without factory resetting it. Id like to attempt again to unlock it by passcode but its at the "connect to iTunes" stages.

Thank you for viewing my post.

There is only one way to reset a forgotten screen lock passcode or a disabled device. You must restore it which will erase it and set it back to iOS setup. After you reset it you can restore your iCloud or iTunes backup to put your data back.

But there is no alternative to erasing it to reset the passcode. That is a deliberate design aspect of iOS and iPadOS to ensure that no one can gain access to a device with still intact data if they don’t know the screen lock passcode.

Thanks for reaching out, elliot192.

It sounds like you have made too many attempts to unlock your device and now need to wait to be able to try again. We can help.

For this, the only two options are either to wait until the timer counts down and try then, or to restore your device as new, or using a backup. You can find those steps here: If you forgot your iPhone passcode.

Hope that helps.

Take care.
