Carplay disconnects when playing audio

Whenever I play music from any app carplay disconnects after 2-5 minutes. Currently using iPhone 12 on ios 15.6 and already tried several cables but problem still persists. Saw others having the same problem but haven’t found a solution yet.

Hey rjay29,

Is your vehicle on the compatibility list for CarPlay? Check here: iOS - CarPlay - Available Models - Apple

If so, make sure the following has been covered: Use CarPlay with your iPhone - Apple Support

Also, test after each related step below:

  1. Forget the stereo from Settings > General > CarPlay > [Stereo name]
  2. Forget the iPhone from the settings (see the stereo guide/manual for instructions)
  3. Rename the iPhone in Settings > General > About > Name
  4. Remove any VPNs or security software on the iPhone, restart the device normally.
  5. Reset network settings in Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings (This will remove all previously saved network passwords and forget these networks. Including VPNs, etc. Until you add them back again.)
  6. If using a wire to connect to CarPlay, make sure you've tested a shorter Apple cable.
  7. Factory reset the vehicle stereo and test again (see the stereo guide/manual for instructions)
  8. Test the iPhone using CarPlay on another vehicle if the issue continues to occur.
  9. Test a different iPhone with this current vehicle to see if the issue continues.

If the issues still occur after the above steps, then it would be best to contact Apple Support

They'll need to take it from here.

Wishing you well, cheers.

Hello rjay29,

For issues with CarPlay not working as expected, this page here has some good steps to try out: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

There will be a handful of steps to try out, which will include things like checking for iOS updates, trying a different USB port in the vehicle if possible, restarting the iPhone.

You may also try 'forgetting' the car from Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then, set it up again as normal.

Also, try checking for any available firmware updates from the vehicle manufacturer.

Cheers.
