not allowed assistive access applescript

An AppleScript that worked just fine yesterday is now failing with the error "System Events got an error. <script name> is not allowed assistive access."' This error appeared only after installing the Mac OS 12.5 update).

I have added Script Editor and the compiled script application to the System Preferences > Security and Privacy > Assistive access list. I have deleted the script from that list and re-added it since the error appeared. This does not resolve the issue.

The script runs successfully from within script editor. It just will not run when I export it as a compiled application signed for local use even when it is added to the Assistive Access group in System Preferences's Security and Privacy pane.

Has anyone else encountered this issue and found a workaround?

Shut off the required System Preferences access for the app, restart the Mac through Safe Mode, then restart the Mac normally, re-enable the needed assistive access, and try your app again. Failing that, contact Apple Support.
