Itunes / apple tv rented movie will not play

Hi, I "rented" a movie through itunes, it didn't play. black screen. then i decided to update all software, installed monterey. I opened the same movie in apple tv app( where it automatically showed), and it still won't play, like the app crashes...what can I do? there are no updates available so all is updated.
