What does the "?" on my iPad icon mean?

My iPad Mini 6 has a "?" in it's icon in the Finder on my Macbook Pro. It appears to be connecting and working normally other than that.

What does this mean, and how do I resolve it so it just shows a normal icon like my iPad Mini 4?

Hello Ryfus,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. Are you running any anti-virus software on that iPad? If so, try disabling it, and test the issue. You can also try enabling Wi-Fi sync to Finder. The steps are found in the Apple Support article: Use the Finder to sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod with your computer - Apple Support

Sync your content using Wi-Fi

After you set up syncing with the Finder using USB, you can set up the Finder to sync to your device with Wi-Fi instead of USB.

  1. Connect your device to your computer with a USB cable, then open a Finder window and select your device.
  2. Select “Show this [device] when on Wi-Fi."
  3. Click Apply.

When the computer and the device are on the same Wi-Fi network, the device appears in the Finder. The device syncs automatically whenever it's plugged in to power.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Best regards!

Done all that, and still have the "?".

This appeared after resetting my Network Settings trying to troubleshoot not being able to connect to SMTP servers from my home network.

Other than the "?" indication in the Finder my iPad seems to be behaving normally...I can connect it via cable or wifi, make backups, etc. and other than the "?" I can't see/find anything wrong. I don't use any anti-virus software on my iPad.
