Logitech MX Master 2S stopped working with Monterey 12.5

Context

I have a Logitech MX Master 2S as the only Bluetooth device connected to my M1 Mac. No Logitech software installed. macOS version 12.4. Everything was working flawlessly.

Problem

After updating to macOS 12.5 the cursor no longer moves when moving the mouse. Clicks are registered correctly. Moving the cursor from the trackpad works correctly.

In addition to this when pairing the mouse now two Bluetooth devices are displayed instead of one. Pairing either completes with success but the mouse still doesn't work.

What I've tried

  • Restart didn't have any effect.
  • Turning on and off the mouse didn't have any effect.
  • Repairing Bluetooth device didn't have any effect.
  • Installing Logitech provided software didn't have any effect.
  • Disabling AirPlay as suggested on other threads with similar issues here didn't have any effect.

This is very frustrating...

Thanks! I was aware of the Options+ Beta, unfortunately Options+ does not support the MX 2S (ref: https://www.logitech.com/en-us/software/logi-options-plus.html). Options is a completely different application to Options+ (yeah, I know, thanks Logitech). What bothers me is that the mouse was working perfectly fine without ANY Logitech software installed. It stopped after the 12.5 update. :/
