Hi Techgeek_25,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities! You'll want to make sure your Mac has the proper ventilation in order to be able to keep it within the acceptable operating temperatures (50° and 95° F (10° and 35° C)). You also want to have it on a stable work surface. The carpet may not provide this support.

Mc Pro 42 lb silver tower can usually be placed on the floor, even on a carpet. Make sure there is lots of space for hot air to exit out the rear and dissipate. A 'blind' enclosure is not such a great idea.

On the Mac Pro tower, there is substantial airflow through the cabinet, so the closer to floor you leave it, the more often you will need to blow out the dust is accumulates.

MacBook Pro should not be used on anything remotely "fluffy", as this could block the side air intakes and reduce the heat transfer through the bottom plate.
