Can my MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018) be able to scale to a 4k external monitor? Or only 2k?

I have a 1080p monitor, however testing and using different HDMI cables the picture was not sharp or clear. Am I able to use a 4k external monitor or am I capped at 2k due to the age of my MacBook Air?

Thank you!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.5

The Late 2018 MacBook Air can support a single external display at 5K or two external displays at up to 4K.
