Your original receipt would have the date of purchase.

Wondering where you keep "proof of purchase" / warranty documents / guarantees etc

or

If you took out extra "Apple Care" there may be records of that with a date..

Eg: Some of us keep any Apple receipts and documentation in the original packaging.

or

Sometimes searching for eMails from Apple (archived / iPhone back-up?) can uncover an e-mailed receipt with date of purchase

Wikipedia says the iPhone 6 and 6s were announced on September 9, 2014, and released on September 19, 2014.

(Eg: You may remember the approximate time in relation to the release date ... or the season of year ... etc.)

You cmay be able to enter the iPhone's serial number online and see what info., if any, is available there.

If purchased form Apple, then they'd have the answer upfront (from their end).
