Monterey Mail - Hide Default IMAP Folders

I've recently upgrade from Catalina (10.15.7) to Monterey (12.5) and among many minor (and not so minor) irritations with the latest macOS I've noticed that all my Mail (16.0) IMAP accounts (both gmail and other) now display the default IMAP folders (Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Junk & Bin) within the IMAP folder list. I'm sure that there used to be a way to hide these (they certainly don't appear in Mail (13.4) on Catalina) but this no longer appears possible under either the Mailbox menu or Mailbox Behaviours preference screen.

Any thoughts on a solution would be gratefully received. Thanks

Based on your suggestion I've used a workaround as follows:

Create a top level IMAP folder (TOP1, TOP2 etc) within each IMAP account and then move all non-default IMAP folders and sub-folders into TOP1, TOP2 etc. Then add TOP1, TOP2 etc as Favourites.

Obviously this doesn't address the underlying (to my mind unnecessary) change in the way Mail handles IMAP but it is a solution.

Thank you for your input!

The Mailbox list shows all of the server mailboxes under each account.

You can add certain ones to Favorites as P. Phillips noted.

You could create Smart Mailboxes to group the mailboxes you want grouped together.

You can also create Smart. Mailbox folders to group Smart Mailboxes. All of those can be added to favorites.

There is nothing that hides the mailboxes in the account subsection.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have considered using Favourites but it's not an ideal solution as there is no ability to group favourites and therefore hide / show them by e-mail account. Also, because I have several accounts with numerous folders in each one it would create a very messy and over-full Favourites Bar. This issue seems a strangely retrograde step in Mail.
