apple watch phone icon after call has ended

my apple watch continues to show the green phone icon at the top of the screen after calls have ended on the phone. I have restarted the watch and that has not resolved the problem. I have changed the watch face and it has not helped. when you click the icon it then dials the contact from the previous call or calls that you were on. you have to hit the red phone icon to cancel all of the calls before they end up actually going through to the person or people, and its awkward like.. sorry whoops my watch accidentally called you bc it is acting weird.
