Pictures lost after upgrading to 15.6

I upgraded my mobile to iOS 15.6 few days ago, and after that some of my pictures have been lost. It is a strange behaviour, because it only happened with pictures from 2020 and 2021, pictures from 2022 were not touched. I connected to iCloud.com to check if I had them there, but they also disappeared from my icloud account. I checked deleted items and hidden items, and nothing is there.

I have additional storage bought, so there should not be any issues with the available storage on my account.

Could you tell me how can I get back my pictures?

Best regards,

iPhone X

See if this Apple Support article helps:

If you're missing photos or videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

or this article:

or

Maybe the older pictures somehow ended up in My Photo Stream instead of iCloud Photos, so appear to be missing ?

See this article: My Photo Stream – Apple Support

(says: Go to Photos > Albums > My Photo Stream.)

or try reaching out to the Photos Support Team

Hi brbo,

Thanks for your reply. None of the links have helped me directly, however, by reading all these material, I have realised what really happened.

It has nothing to do with the update, the same day I did the OS update, I also took an older iphone to give it to my grandparent. In that iphone there were some picture, and I still had my Apple ID linked, with the iCloud connection turned on. I deleted those pictures from my gallery and from the recently deleted photos, so my grandparent would received a clean phone. However, with this action, I activated by mistake a delete on icloud and therefore on all devices. later that day, I upgrade to 15.6, and that is why I thought initially that it was related to it, but it was not.

So now the question changes :-( . Is there a way to get from Apple a backup from my icloud prior to that delete action, that was on Sunday 31st of July, if I remind correctly?

All the solutions I am finding are based on the recently deleted photos. but if I have deleted those as well, how can I get them back? I am paying extra icloud storage, so I really expect that Apple has some backups that can be recovered with the approval of the owner.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You're most welcome! Thank you for your reply, monabsan

,Thank you too, for sharing your understanding of the situation, and for your new request.

As we are all Apple users, like yourself, in this community, we can not speak for Apple.

Only back-ups you have placed in iCloud, and thus would already have access to, can be recovered.

Recently deleted photos would usually stay available for 30 days to be restored;

(Photos > Albums, Recently Deleted in the Utilities section). Once permanently deleted that is permanent.

Permanently deleted photos can not be recovered,

Seems Apple continually reminds us to back-up our important data, especially before updates, and changing devices, etc..

Sometimes friends or family may have copies of photos, or a back-up may be stored on a Mac or PC, or external storage.

iCloud storage is mainly for sync. of data across devices, and is managed by the person who subscribes.

Re: I really expect that Apple has some backups that can be recovered with the approval of the owner.

Sorry. It seems very unlikely that you could recover permanently deleted photos.

The place to double-check would be with the Photos Support Team:
