Personalizing the Lock Screen

How is it that with all the bells and whistles on my iPhone XS Max I can’t move or remove the clock on the Lock Screen? It always gets in the way of the picture I want for the wallpaper! I could work around that problem if I could only move my blasted picture to exactly how I want it to look!! Come on, Apple!
