I have an ipad with a 5 digit password. Suddenly, after restarting it is prompting for a 6 digit password. Tried 123456 and 000000 and of course my old 5 digit but nothing works. Help

A 5-digit “custom alphanumeric” passcode is possible.
Have you tried adding a single zero ahead of your five digits?
It is not possible to have a 5 digit passcode as it’s not an option when choosing a passcode. So the options are to override the passcode by connecting to a Mac and doing an iTunes restart or going to the Apple Store to see if they can help. You could also download the Apple Support app to see if that gives you any further advice.
