I am trying to add an account to my iPad OS15.5. I have entered all of the information manually, including the password, but it won't verify the account. It keeps telling me to go to mail account settings and enter the password. What am I doing wrong?

Does your email provider require the use of App Specific Passwords? If so, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password. As examples - AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.
If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.
