I cannot get Apple Wallet to accept my debit card.

I have contacted my bank and they say it is not on their end but Apple Wallet's end. How do I get this debit card added? How do I get Apple Wallet to let me add this new debit card. It keeps giving me the message "invalid card" even thought the card is valid.
