Printer won't connect

Can not get my IMAC to recognize my Canon printer TR8520.

When I try to add in System Preferences it asks for a driver Does AirPrint support this printer?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Hi,

Yes, the Canon TR8520 is listed as a supported printer in About AirPrint - Apple Support, so it should work without an additional driver, provided that the printer and the iMac are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router).

AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) and wired (Ethernet) network connections. Since this printer has Ethernet (in addition to Wi-Fi) it could be wired to one of the LAN ports of the router, if you so wish.

If there is a problem with AirPrint, you could try the following full procedure in the exact order:

Power off the router, the printer, the iMac, and all other computers/devices. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Again, wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the iMac. Finally, power on all other computers/devices.
