I just tried to download it and Bitdefender alerted me that an infected file was blocked. For context, this has never happened in my two years of having Bitdefender running on my machine. Maybe it's just the program being overly cautious, maybe not. I'm taking no risks tho. "Founded in 2019." Not a very old company. "Joshua Hill" - the "Editor in Chief" looks like an innocuous hippy nerd. His "Twitter" profile is fake and he doesn't exist on LinkedIn or any reputable site. I'd use caution. All those reviews could be fake, and all the writers in tech sites could be fooled.

Update: On the HitPaw site there is an image of "Joshua Hill" the "Editor in Chief". This is a stock image found all over the internet on all sorts of profiles, including many professional profiles on company websites, all with different names.
Glad to hear you exercised caution- that doesn't seem right. If you need to convert a video, I would either use a third-party online converter (but not with anything sensitive) or my personal favorite for all things video related- VLC Media Player. This free and open-source piece of software can play pretty much any video file, and convert them all too - VLC Media Player - VideoLAN Organization
And, a final thought: I would not trust any downloader that circumvents any laws or rules as they will usually contain some undesirable add-ons. For instance, Youtube does not allow downloads of any content unless there is a download button. That is because most of the content is not theirs, but owned by the person who uploaded it.
I would not do business with a company that not reveal its address or location on its website and I would not download anything if it is not available at the app store.
This was my initial worry too. But read some reassuring reviews and also after the download got the message that Apple did not find anything harmful in the download. So using it now. Thanks for your response.

I would also like to point out that many large software companies may actually write their own reviews and/or buy software review websites and place their product at the top. One VPN company did so with many sites, and this company, MacPaw, owns CleanMyMac (so naturally they put their own product first).
From what I can see it's a video converter. I'd suggest if it does what you want it's good to go. I have no information on its safety; what makes you question safety?
That's a possibility with any download. As babowa is saying, you need to be careful, scammers are very clever and counterfeit sites often look very good..
Don't know what the going price is, but it used to be $5 per positive review.
Just read some online articles that such converters can sometimes download harmful stuff too, so was checking. Have bought it now. Thanks for your advice.
Thank you! I'll check that out.
