I have a MacBook air with Monterrey 12.5. my lg dvd write/player works fine on an older iMac but not on my new MacBook Air-- its LG slim portable model SP80NB80... plug it into with the USB adapter since there is no USB port on the computer... green lite on the DVD player keeps flashing and a clicking sound but no connection..

The ports on the Mac are USB ... USB-C as opposed to the older and more "traditional" USB-A.
Not all devices are compatible with Monterey. Have to checked with the developer on Monterey compatibility? You may need new drivers.
