iPhone 7 Plus made and received phone calls fine before upgrading to iOS 15.6

iPhone 7+ made and received phone calls just fine before upgrading to iOS 15.6. This was true whether wearing Air Pods, Costco hearing aids, or neither.

After upgrade:

(1) Phone calls seem to work fine with Air Pods connected.

(2) With hearing aids connected, or with nothing connected, the phone behaves as follows:

(a) incoming and outgoing calls appear to connect but neither party hears anything from the other;

(b) on these calls the receiving phone lights up in a different way. Specifically, instead of full screen with a slider to answer the call a smaller box near the top of the screen appears with buttons to answer or decline the call.

So far as I can tell the device otherwise works just fine. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

I had the SAME issue, here is EXACTLY what is going on: (answered, promise):

(only exception is that i updated to a different iOS since this was a year ago, on my iPhone 7+):

After speaking to apple and those "fixyouriphone" stores at the mall, i learned theres a hardware problem with the 7+

and that theyve seen hundreds people come in with the same problem, and they said they could fix it but it would eventually just die out and stop working

I know, its extremely annoying, but that is the answer + truth.

My girlfriend got me a 7 for xmas just for fun, since theyre cheap

Well theyre so cheap and so in stock everywhere because they have that hardware issue which makes you not be able to hear on both ends unless AirPod Pros (for me) or airpods are in

Yes it *****, sorry to be the bearer of bad news

PS- this problem started in the last few years because thats when people started noticing their 7's (and some 8's) completely "dying" in the calling and receiving calls sense

Sorry man

First try a Forced restart Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

Then afyer backing up, try resetting all settings

If no better you should arrange a repair iPhone Repair - Official Apple Support

Or

 Contact - Official Apple Support

Anything other than Screen or Battery may be a replacement phone and the price is in the article under "Other damage"

Yup, same with the voice to text on the keyboard too right? Trust me i get exactly what youre saying--

Dont downgrade the iOS in iTunes or through one of those 3rd party things you download online/or a "iphone fixer"

Im "that guy" who literally did that and spent the $49.99 on an app that focused on it

Well it didnt fix it obviously but it did show exactly what Apple employee chat people and the "fixyouriphone" people at the mall were saying: the hardware problem

It starts 4-6 years after the phone is manufactured

Ive never commented a reply on this help apple forum thing before
