organ sound missing

organ sound missing

weird problem - my organ sounds do not play when I select that instrument. I can change the track to be guitar, bass, drums, piano, whatever, and those sounds play with the track. The really strange thing is that if I click on the 'notes' in the bottom screen (either in piano roll or score mode) the organ sounds will play - just not when the track is rolling in play. I checked to see if there was some events in modulation, foot control, expression, etc, and nothing that would mute the notes in play mode. Been using Garageband since the first version and I can't figure this one out. Anyone ever seen this before? Thanks

This is an imported midi track, right? It probably uses a midi channel other than 1 - and the organ instruments only listen to channel 1 (maybe 2 and 3 too, I don't remember). The other instruments play all midi channels - that's a known glitch.

The problem is that you can't edit the midi channels in GB. You might be successful creating a new organ track with an empty region and copy all the notes over from that region that doesn't play - I don't know whether that works. The best thing of course would be to fix the midi file you are using.

Im having the same problem, my organ is missing from the software instruments
im NOT using an imported MIDI file, I can create a new project add any instrument and they play with the exception of the organ, I add it and no sound, I also noticed the samples are missing from the /library/application support/garageband/instrument library/sampler/sampler files.
I tried uninstalling the program and deleting all the support files and reinstalling and it still is missing the organ.

I had the same issue - the organs would not play in either Garage Band or Logic. Resetting my M-Audio Oxygen MIDI controller to use MIDI channel 1 solved the problem. I've no clue how it became reset from factory, but this did cure the problem.

THANK YOU OH SO MUCH! By simply changing my controller to transmit on midi channel 1 cured this year long problem.
