Accidentally may have deleted an important txt message from area code 559. It was NOT one of my contacts. Search all txt msgs. for ALL & Missed in "recents." No luck. This is involving a very important purchase of an item I had posted on Craig's List.

Clear Phone Number History in Messages on Mac Hello, I am trying to find a method of clearing the phone number history that appears in Messages on my Mac Book. I am really sorry if this is a simple solution and the answer has already been posted unfortunately my searches came up with nothing that works. When I click on the search bar in Messages there are 4 historical numbers displayed, these numbers are not in my contacts and never have been, I don't actually have any stored/saved messages at all. This has been annoying me for quite some time, these numbers do not appear on my iPhone and I recently reset my Mac which cleared the list but it was repopulated after I had received a few messages from numerous places that are not in my contacts list (verification codes, appointment reminders, one off calls etc.), this suggests that the numbers/history is sitting locally on my Mac and not the cloud. If I select the number it will appear in the 'to' field and then I have tried going across the the 'i' icon in the circle on the right but there is no means of removing the number from this 'recents' area. I have also tried going into Siri and Spotlight and deselecting everything under what appears in search results but it made no difference. I have also tried going into ~/Library and deleting the whole messages folder (which repopulates) as well as the contacts folder but neither has any affect. Message from Apple on Phone about Password data breach - questions Hello! I had a long message apparently from Apple on my iPhone about Passwords--a data breach, during which 76 passwords were compromised or else were listed in the message/screen as being weak or reused. Now, I have a bunch of problems with this, one of which is *I cannot find the message/screen* now. I thought it came from something like "Passwords" or "Security". Passwords shows me "DOMAINS CONTACTED DIRECTLY BY APP," and I'm not sure what that means, but it doesn't look like the list that I saw before! Ack! How do I get that list back? I know this is vague--this message/screen was not in Messages. I thought it was some kind of notification from Apple... I know there was a gigantic data breach in May. Can this be part of that?? And how do you think it would be possible to get back to that message/screen? Can this be a scam? God. I wish I knew how to get to the list so I could laboriously change all the passwords... ANY help would be greatly appreciated--I'm sorry I can't provide other details. I'll be glad to A any Qs that I possibly can. Thank you in advance!

Look in Settings, [your name], iCloud.

If “Messages” was turned ON in Settings, [your name], iCloud then no you cannot retrieve them.

If “Messages” was turned OFF in Settings, [your name], iCloud then you can restore the entire most recent backup and lose everything else since that date. Without a daily iCloud backup that is probably not feasible.
