Because they are a for-profit enterprise. They make things in order to sell them in order to make more money and increase the value of the stocks. Giving away Airpods as an added incentive to buy a Mac does that. Giving away Airpods to any student does not. It would lose them money. It would not be a good business decision.

As a student, you may want to consider seeing if your institution of learning offers classes in basic Economics.
