iCloud

Just got a message saying “add more storage to keep everything in your iCloud”, the cost is .99/mth for 50 GB or 2.99/mth for 200 GB. Has anyone gotten this message and if so is it necessary to purchase? I don’t think I use 50 GB a mth since I only use iCloud for photos and Find Me App. Also, if I do not purchase how will it effect my iPad and items already in iCloud? Thank you

Hello Abridgeman,

Your Apple ID account automatically comes with 5 GB of storage for free. You can check and see how this is being used by tapping on Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage. From here you can see what is using the iCloud Storage.

The next thing you want to do is check the storage on your iPad itself. Tap on Settings > General > iPad Storage. This will show you how the storage on your iPad is being used.

If storage on your iPad is running low, additional iCloud storage could help. Here are some ways iCloud storage can be used from What you can do with iCloud storage - Apple Support:

• Photos and videos: You can use iCloud Photos to store your photo library in iCloud and see it everywhere. Your original, full-resolution photos and videos are stored in the cloud. Smaller versions of your photos and videos appear on your devices, but you can download the original versions at any time. See Keep your photos and videos up to date with iCloud Photos.

• Files: You can store your documents, presentations, and other files in iCloud Drive, and access them on all your devices and on the web. Your files stay up to date everywhere. See Keep your files up to date and share them with iCloud Drive.

• iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups: You can use iCloud Backup to automatically back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iCloud. Your backups are available if you ever need to restore a device or set up a new one. See What is iCloud Backup?

Have a good day.
