To make a movie DVD export (Share) your movie to your desktop. Drag it from there into a DVD authoring program like iDVD or DVD Creator by Peng Guiping. Insert a standard one layer DVD disc into your internal or external DVD disc burner. Burn at 4x speed. The above procedure will make you a movie DVD of up to two hours in duration (running time). An authoring program has the capability of compressing, say, a 25GB movie to fit on a 4.7GB DVD. The DVD will play on your computer as well as on a DVD player.

If your DVD app has the capability, like iDVD, of saving to a Disc Image, then do that and play and burn your DVD from the disc image icon on your desktop (control-click/Burn Disc). That way you can verify that the DVD project rendered properly and also you can burn as many copies of the DVD as you want without having to repeat the entire rendering process each time.

If you simply want to burn a data DVD (i.e, just store the movie on a disc) then you can use the burn program already on your Mac. In the Finder Help menu type in Burn DVD for instructions. A data DVD usually will play only on a computer and not on a DVD player. Also, because a data DVD does not compress the movie, you would be limited to the 4.7GB capacity of the DVD disc.
