Upgrade Software on older Macpro

Can or should I upgrade macOS high Sierra 10.13.6 to macos monterey?

and macOS Monterey is compatible with these computers - Apple Support


Be aware that if you have any non-Apple 32-bit apps you will also need to update them. See: https://www.macworld.com/article/232735/how-to-check-if-mac-software-is-32-or-64-bit.html

Also check compatibility of any printers or other peripheral devices that you have.


If it was mine, it would have been upgraded long ago but that is a decision that you will need to make.
