Backup drive for new MacBook pro

What backup drive can I connect to the M1MacBook Pro since it has no USB ports.

Your MacBook has thunderbolt/USB C ports. You can use any USB C type of external harddrive, or use a USB c to USB A adapter to connect an external drive with an USB A connector
