How can I reset my Apple ID password? I use Face ID but of course had to initially use a password to set up password
which I have since forgotten . I do not have a pc nor do I use iTunes . Help

Face ID and your Apple ID password are entirely unrelated and not connected in any way.

For Face ID what you had to have set up is a screen unlock passcode. This only lives on the device itself and cannot be reset or recovered. You will need to erase the iPad and set it up again to remove the passcode.
If your iPad is running iOS 15.2 or later you can erase it directly from the iPad Lock Screen: link-> How to remove your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch passcode without a computer - Apple Support
Otherwise you will require a computer with iTunes to restore the iPad and remove the passcode. There is no way around this requirement.
