Why are there SO MANY fonts that can't be removed?
There are so many fonts that I don't need that are included on my new Mac. How can I remove them or at least hide them?

Yes I’ve been through that. Still have many unusable fonts. What are they being used for?
They're part of the OS for use in case you open a document that needs them.
You shouldn't have to see them at all if your apps are written correctly. They are not required to show any of them and can easily not show them.
Until they do, you can use Font Menu Cleaner to hide them from your apps.
I was having problems accessing it via the App Store. Hopefully that link resolves.
See Mal-S's link. Do note, however, that system fonts cannot be removed- just disabled.
