iPad Air 2 pencil.

Hi, just wondering if there’s any type of pencil I can use on the iPad Air 2, even if it’s a non- Apple Pencil, I don’t mind. I bought the iPad off of someone and didn’t realise that it was an Air 2, I don’t want to buy another iPad for the sake of a pencil so I’m just wondering if there are other alternatives that I might be able to use.

iPad Air 2, iPadOS 15

The iPad Air2 does not support Apple Pencil. For reference, here is Apple’s definitive compatibility list for Apple Pencil and iPad:

Apple Pencil compatibility - Apple Support

Without explicit support for Apple Pencil, your options are limited…

You might consider using a passive/capacitive stylus - but these offer no more capability than your fingertip. The only possible benefit is perhaps increased touch-accuracy - as the stylus tip may be smaller than a fingertip.

There are other Bluetooth styli available from various third-party manufacturers (e.g., Adonit). These, however, all rely upon Apps having explicit built-in support for the particular Bluetooth stylus. As such, usefulness is again limited.
