Responding to unknown number by text

There is a risk responding to any number you do not know by whichever means. If you respond, they will have yours and know that it is "live" - a real number. If they are spammers or scammers, they'd use or sell yours to others. That goes for emails too. Unless I know who it is, I do not respond and delete it.
