Apple cannot provide a receipt for a purchase more than 18 months ago, and even then only for online purchases. Receipts and other financial documentation preservation is the responsibility of the owner.
Phisycal Apple Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers or Apple Authorized Reseller (even e-commerce authorized resellers) keep their accounts separately from Apple (accounts are not centralized).
As already stated, you need to contact them directly.

Just a clarification: it might depend on the country where you buy stuff.
In Italy, sellers must keep invoices and/or receipts for a much longer period.
But yes, it is fundamentally the responsibility of the owner or purchaser to keep such documents in original paper or in copy (including digital).

You must contact the shop where you bought that device and ask them for a copy of that document, if still available.
