iphone says not enough memory during sync-But there is

While syncing my my iPhone12 with 256GB storage total to my MBPro, my MBP keeps telling me that there is not enough available memory on my phone to sync videos (TV shows). I have over 100GB of available space, yet a single video that is only 17MB gets me an error saying I need over 70GB of additional space.

I have cleared my phone of excess photos, synched once with no music or TV shows/Movies selected--phone is showing now videos or music; flushed out my files folder too. Is there something I'm not seeing--that is not being counted in the memory usage bar? The screenshot is when I try to sync with only a single 17MB video file selected to be put onto the phone.

I think I found the issue:

After playing around with almost every setting I could think of, I noticed that my Backup option was set to back my phone's data to iCloud. I switched it to back up to my MacBook Pro instead and BAM! It started loading the videos onto my phone.

So if anyone else is having this issue, make sure your back up data storage option is set to your computer and NOT iCloud.

Just found one thing that triggers this problem - in the TV SHOWS tab of the iphone window on my MBP, when I have "Sync TV Shows onto Phone", even though I have nothing selected (and I have triple checked), I get the "not enough space" error message. Something is triggering my phone to think there is way more being stored on it than there really is--at least I think.

Nope, sync failed and I'm getting the same memory error, this time its saying I need more than 223+GB of free space. Again the phone's storage use bar shows 100GB of free space. I'm also now getting an error saying it cannot sync a particular video that is not selected at all to be placed on the phone. This is wierd. Any ideas what this is? Restarted both devices multiple times, still no change
