On Magic Keyboard with numeric keypad, what does the CLEAR key do?

On the Magic Keyboard with a numeric keypad that comes with the iMac 24", what does the CLEAR key on the numeric keypad do?  I'm hoping it's essentially the same as turning off NumLock on a Windows keyboard, so you can use those "numeric" keys as navigation keys to move around your document--the 4, 8, 6, and 2 keys navigate left, up, right, down, etc. Can anyone confirm that it does this?

It does not act as a NumLock key. In apps which support it, it clears the contents of the selected entry box. You use the arrow keys for navigation.
