thanks for replying, but not all recents are showing despite not being imported previously.
It's strange, out of say 200 photos taken on a recent holiday, only 4 of those photos are showing as 'new items'. many, many are not showing, nor previously imported?
? I think you may not understand the problem I’m having?
A lot of recent and not previously imported photos I’ve taken on my phone, are not visible in ‘photos’ on my Mac, having connected my phone to my Mac with the intention of importing all new photos. This is the first time I have experienced this issue. problem. The last time I imported photos (6 months ago?) this problem did not occur and all recent, unimpaired photos appeared.
when opening the d iPhotos app on my Mac though exceedingly slow running, iPhoto show all photos on my phone - non are missing? However, I’m not able to import from iPhotos as the photo files are not recognised (HEIC).
thsnk you for your thoughts.
When iPhoto was discontinued 7+ years ago, the HEIC format didn't exist, so it's no surprise that iPhoto won't import them.
Can you access these images via Image Capture (in the Applications Folder)?
Hello, The plot thickens – Image Capture sees all of the photos on my iPhone, the vast majority of them are listed as HEIC and AAE. Just one or 2 or images are listed as jpegs which seem strange. Why would my iPhone take photos of a different format on the same day? The HEIC photos are the ones that my MacBook Pro won't import. The error message reads 'file format is not supported by photos' Ive tried to open them in 'Preview' and Photoshop - same error message.
I've sorted it out now. It was a matter of (simply?) changing the preference on the iphone/settings/photos/'Transfer to Mac' to 'most compatible'
It will import from Recents. It is expecting only "new" photos.
The others may have been sync'd there from your Mac previously.
I've now tried the old application 'iPhotos' and all recent photos are visible. . . .? But can't be imported as they are in an unrecognisable format (HEIC)
New information!
I will have the thread moved to iPhoto for Mac if I can.
Thank you. I've come to the end of my understanding to try anything else
You need to tell the next helper how those undetected photos got on the phone.
I know I don't understand it, which is why I have asked for it to be moved to a more appropriate forum. Which it now has been.
Over and out.
