I deleted a message and trying recover it

Things would be tons easier if you could contact the other person involved with the message and ask them to send it back to you again. Is that a possibility?
Otherwise, do you know if messages were being backed up?
Do you know when you deleted the message?
We ask this because even if messages were being backed up, if you deleted a message and another backup ran after that, the message would have been deleted from the backup, so there would be nothing to recover.
