Macbook turns on after I turn it off and close it

I have a Macbook that I bought almost two years ago. After I shut it down, it does not matter how long I wait, it will turn back on if I close the lid. I'm a college student and have been doing online school, so it has not been a big deal to leave it shut off but open on my desk. But I have to go to in-person classes now, and when I get to classes, the battery is dead because it was on the whole commute. I saved up a lot to buy this and LOVE my Mac, but this has been happening since the very first day I bought it. Any help would be greatly appreciated please.
