Need Help - No video capture devices were found (2022)

Hi,

I just bought new Macbook pro 2021 Apple M1 Max 14'.

But I'm facing some issues with camera which cannot be displayed at all.

In the System Information -> No video capture devices were found.

In Photo Booth app -> There is no connected camera.

Also I enabled camera in the screen time and everywhere else.

I tried different ways to fix it:

Reset NVRAM or PRAM.

Create a new user

Re-install the whole software.

To run in safe mode

Upgraded to latest version - Monterey 12.5

I run 'apple diagnostics' but there is no problem related with the camera.

Would like to know if you have any other option I can try for fixing it.

FYI there is no green light or something like that when trying to run it.

It looks like you have already done a great work of troubleshooting.

If the camera is not detected, as it appears to be the case, and you dare within the 14 day period, I would consider returning it; or go to a genius bar if you live close to an Apple store.

Long shot - Restart in Recovery Mode and choose to Reinstall macOS

If that does not fix the issue - sorry but there seems to no other option but to spend the time and effort

Send your product to Apple or Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider or Visit a Genius at an Apple Store

Reset the SMC on an M1 Mac

You don't need to reset the SMC on a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, or Mac Mini powered by Apple Silicon.

In fact, you can't, because Apple's chip doesn't have a system management controller.

If you encounter any of the problems that you'd normally solve by resetting the SMC, some users have suggested that switching off your Mac for 30 seconds will do the trick, before restarting your computer.

unfortunately I bought this far away from my current location, so I cannot return it. Since I did not see any issue with the camera when I did run the 'apple diagnostics' process, is giving me a little bit hope that's not a hardware issue. Even the nearest apple store is far away...

Do you know for how long can apple support fix this? Is this something that they can fix in a single day? Or should I leave the laptop for days?

The best I can say, I do not know.

They will probably want to do some tests on the computer and depending on that, it could be any amount of time or if they can identify the issue right away - who knows for sure.

Sorry, only they know just how long it will be about of use
