analogue video capture on Mac Studio

I recently upgraded to Mac Studio and my old analogue capture setup no longer works. What are the best solutions out there for capturing VHS/Hi8 video on the Mac Studio? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Mac Studio, macOS 12.4

Why doesn't it work exactly?

If it's an issue with the connections, and simple adapter can solve this.

If it's a software issue, then you may need yo update for find a new capture software.

Otherwise, look at ElGato capture cards. They are fairly robust and supported on current systems.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm using a 'top longer' capture device, which worked great on my previous machine:

When I plug it into the Studio, it turns up in 'About this Mac', but nowhere else. Plus, the software that came with it is a no-no.

I've had a look at ElGato, but they say their video capture card doesn't work with Apple Silicon:

Thanks again for the reply. I'm just going to keep trawling... maybe I could plug something into my iPad Pro...

You’ll need software for it to be usable as a capture device.

Same goes for any other capture device you find.

The software is the important bit missing here.

It won’t just show for you tu use.. it will need an App that can interface with it and can record the video footage sent through it.
