System clock setting monterey incorrect. Not able to update date and time automatically, which causes problems

Hi,

I have an MacBook Air with Monterey 12.2.1.

And my wifi is connected (can use it on my phone and the wifi symbol appears on my MacBook)

After the holidays I forgot my password for my MacBook. With the online help and use of my Apple account I have managed to reset my password. So far so good.

Since then the system. clock/date and time settings are incorrect when I start up. The date and time settings are set to: set date time automatically and refer to the website time.apple.com.

However, the date is incorrect and set to today minus 11 months and 1 day.

This causes all kind of problems. Mostly not being able to connect to websites on the internet because the system clock is set incorrectly. Setting the date and time setting manually to the correct date and time, doesn't solve the problem. When I do that I can browse the internet one session, but my mail still don't work because my account still gives an error verifying.

Any solutions?

To clarify.
First I download the 12.5 version of Montery via the terminal command.
Then I restart in Safe mode.
When I'm still in Safe mode I use the standard way of updating my MacBook via system preferences-software update.

So I start the install from Safe mode, or is there and restart for Normal mode?
I don't start the installation by opening the Monterey install app in Applications?
How do I know if the download was succesfull? Is there a way to check this before starting the installation?

thanks for the help

Having downloaded the Full Version of Monterey 12.5 via Terminal command below

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 12.5

This will place a new application in the Applications Folder and it Does Not Auto Launch

Restarting in Safe Mode is optional but may give better results as Safe Mode eliminates all Third Party Software from loading.

Once the Full Installer of Monterey is in the Applications folder - Just Launch the Installer like another application and follow the prompts.

There Is No Need to run the Software Update Applet in System Preferences At All.

The below will only function in its entirety if the User is Logged into the Administator Account of this computer

Using below Terminal command on One Qualifying Computer

softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 12.5

This pulls the Full Version and places a new Application in Applications folder called " Install Monterey " and Does Not Auto Launch

Ready to install at a time the user is ready to commence the installation

Follow up

There are factors:

1 - Like poor Wifi connection

2 - Slow wifi connection

3 - Too many other people downloading at the same time and Apple Severs are overloaded

4 - Software on the computer interfering with the download process including AntiVirus Software

Notation: Disabling the AV Software may or may not solve the issue. Removal of the AV Software may increase the chances of the download to perform as expected.

5 - Running behind a VPN which may increase Packet losses or corruption of the download

6 - If via wifi too many Other devices using the wifi at the same time reducing the Bandwidth to your computer.

7 - Best Results are via Ethernet Cable to Router

8 - Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal and Try Again using the Software Update Applet in System Preferences
