iPhone XR locked screen

I bought a refurbished iPhone XR last year everything was firm until last update, since the update things started to go wrong, screen changing was difficult and trying to text was impossible but now the screen has frozen and will not allow any operations to be made? I cannot even get into the settings to reboot the phone , any help much obliged.
