Gmail display issue with Safari 15.6
After upgrading to MacOS 12.5, Safari has display issues when composing gmail, leaving vertical lines when I press return (see image).
Any advice? I have already disabled extensions and deleted cache.

Now that Monterey 12.5.1 has been released, perhaps
the newer included 'Safari update browser' could yield
helpful changes to your issue(?)

Also for other aspects of issues where most macOS
versions are concerned, sometimes to run Safe mode
can help. (Even if only started up, and left for 20 min.
that can help, since it goes through and checks files;
and restarts on exit, into normal run mode.)

There are details within instructions; & indicators to
be sure that it does actually re-start to Safe mode.
This may or not allow an after-effect good outcome with
the Safari + Google gmail situation. [macOS update= fix?]

Maybe more details are necessary to avoid possible confusion
over the process and other factors involved in your situation..?
The gmail login is being used as Safari web-mail?
Or have you an Apple Mail login with Gmail?
Should issue arrive by use of browser login, maybe try Brave.
However because their security goes a different route, and is
superior to other login web browsers, Brave may have issues.
Any issues with Safari browser in macOS or iOS should be
reported to Feedback at Apple. Product Feedback - Apple
To open link from webmail and go to other content online,
could cause secondary problem, due to conflicts in security.
(Sometimes Brave 'shields UP -or- Down' cannot connect.)
My use of three browsers: Safari, Firefox, & Brave; cover ground.
Safari continues to handle 'secure' sites + bookmarks: Issues.
Newer Firefox browser implements various improved features.
~ Older macOS end up with 'ESR Firefox builds' to get by.
While as webmail browser, for most secure sites, Safari can
be great; as it handles (from experience) passwords to a few
in much better ways. Other aspects of Safari aren't so good.
With older Macs, and more secure modern browsers, a choice
to use webmail seems to work better than older Apple mail.
And doesn't involve saving those histories in the macOS.
Your mileage and routes ~ may vary considerably.
Key thing is I have been using Safari for years with corporate gmail - accessing web interface via Safari and haven't had any problems. Chrome works fine, but I'd rather stick with Safari.
The screenshot is after I click compose and start typing.

Although no immediate relief would be noticed by reporting
any Safari issues with Apple, Inc by link to Feedback. ~ Over
longer term, that works best. Especially when novice users all
dog-pile to re-reply, to same issue; in one discussions thread.
Within newest macOS systems, the efforts to troubleshoot &
fix issues within (Apple) software, may be more difficult; when
Mac's system has separate locked sections users find off-limits.
You may see if google mail help has any newer developments
and or answers to this specific question. As an individual, my
limits are fewer.
Did u ever get a solution to your issue. Having the same problem.
Me too. It's really annoying
