AirTag Notifications

The Find My app keeps auto adding exceptions the the “Notify when left behind”. These are locations I frequent but I still wish to be notified if I leave the items behind.

Is there anyway to disable this feature?

Hello Stephen Spar,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities, and we'll be happy to help in any way we can. We understand you're having issues with "Notify When Left Behind". For the best information about this feature, check out the article listed here: Set up and use Notify When Left Behind in the Find My app - Apple Support

"See where you left your device

  1. After you set up Notify When Left Behind, you get a notification on your iPhone when you leave a device or item at an unknown location.*
  2. A time-sensitive notification on an iPhone screen with a message that says "House Keys" left behind.
  3. Tap the notification to see where you left the item.
  4. Tap Continue to open the Find My app.
  5. The Find My app shows you where House Keys were left. From the Find My app you can:
    • Tap Directions to your device or item left behind.
    • Tap Don't Notify Me Here if you don't want to be notified when you leave something at that location.

* For AirPods left inside their case, you can only see Notify When Left Behind notifications for up to 24 hours.

Add locations where you don't want to be notified

  1. On your iPhone, open the Find My app.
  2. Tap Devices or Items.
  3. Tap a device.
  4. Under Notifications, tap Notify When Left Behind.
  5. The Notify When Left Behind screen on an iPhone, with Notify When Left Behind turned on. Under "Notify me, except at:", Home is listed as a location. From here you can:
    • See your Home as a location where you won't be notified.
    • Tap New Location to add locations where you don't want to be notified when something's left there.
    • Tap the delete button  next to a location where you want to be notified when something's left there."

We hope this helps.

Cheers!
