new Ipod touch update (4.0) problem- error (-9807)

hi, im using OS X 10.6.4 and i have what i believe to be the latest version of itunes- 9.2.1.
yesterday i tried to update my ipod touch with my laptop, but at some point a window appeared saying that this error 9807 occured. i soon found out that this error refers to some: evintl ocsd.verisign.com and evsecure ocsd.verisign.com. i read that these two ports must be open in order for the update to work. Alas, i have no idea what they are, much less where to find them and open them.
i closed down firewalls, shut down Little Snitch, nothing works. i keep getting the same error each time i plug my ipod back into my laptop.
please help me and thanks ahead to anyone who attemps to =)

create a new user account on your computer and try to restore while logged in as the new user. iTunes will download a new version of the software restore file. after creating the new user, log in to that account and open iTunes and attempt to restore your device to see whether the issue persists in this new user.

you might want to put a tick in the box next to +prevent iPods, ... from syncing automatically+ in iTunes > preferences > devices before connecting the Touch.
